What a Georgia Vacation has to do with Blogging4Jobs

The title of this blog post, “What a Georgia Vacation has to do with Blogging4Jobs” might have caught your attention and had you wondering exactly what the title asks.

So what does a Georgia vacation have to do with Blogging4Jobs?

Well, I’m sorry to disappoint.  The title has nothing with this blog post.  I have never once written about a vacation to Georgia nor have I visited Georgia in the last 8 years (although I probably should visit Georgia, I mean).  My site has never once mentioned Georgia whatsoever outside of listing the weekly unemployment benefit entitlements by state.  So what does this blog post have to do with the Peach State? Earlier today, I received the following comment on my blog.

Jessie said, “Hiya I found this page by mistake. I was looking in Yahoo for Georgia vacations for my trip when I came upon your site, I have to say your page is pretty cool I just love the theme, its amazing!. I don’t have the time at the moment to totally read your entire site but I have bookmarked it and also signed up for your RSS feeds. I’ll back in a day or two. thanks for a cool site.”

The moral of the story is that website traffic comes from the most unusual and strange places.  Don’t underestimate the power of key words, off topic titles, and the use of tools like My BlogLog or Google Analytics to help you understand how you reach your audience or your audience reaches you.  Chances are that after this blog posts goes live, webcrawlers will crawl the post, you’ll find me ranked higher among the Google keyword search for “Georgia Vacation.”  Nothing scientific, just a hunch.

Thanks for the comment Jason. Funny because a Jason Parker just followed me almost immediately after your comment. Bounce rates don’t factor things in like FaceBook and Twitter into their calculations, and this is a fine example. Thanks for connecting. I look forward to your internet marketing expertise.
