In 2012, I started offering human resource technology and product reviews as part of the blog’s offerings in sponsorship and advertising services. We’ve had a lot of interest, as well as questions about what these product reviews and articles offer.
This blog and I, myself, have always been committed to being transparent, which is why I make my advertising rates and services available. The more than 10 writers here on the blog are committed to providing great content, conversation, and pushing boundaries in the workplace, HR, and recruiting spaces. Since 2007, I have been committed to serving as an online resource and we will continue to do it, in every single way.
HR Technology, Product, & Service Reviews
HR service providers and workplace technology products contact me daily inquiring if I would review or write about a product or new service that’s hitting the HR and workplace space. I could literally fill up my days watching product demos and talking with these same service providers and writing reviews. I wish I could, but there are bills to pay and a business to run. That’s the reason I created the HR Technology and Product Reviews offering as part of Blogging4Jobs. It’s a way to share great industry products and services with you, while allowing me to pay my rent.
What Blogging4Jobs Reviews Do
These reviews are meant to expose readers to different products and services available in our space for those who are researching and have an interest in learning about different products and technology our industry has to offer. Outside of trade shows and conferences, this information is severely limited, and it’s hard for practitioners to really get a sense of what is available especially with the white papers and top vendors lists which are also paid for opportunities .
The reviews are written by me and are normally 250-500 words, written twice a month. I attend what is typically an hour-long demo with the vendor, just like the HR practitioner would. I ask questions tapping into the HR and Recruiting practitioner psyche. These reviews are paid opportunities for the time spent to research and write a review. I offer these vendors the opportunity to include up to two screenshots or photos, as well as two links contained within the post, but that’s where their control ends. Not all paid reviews are nice ones, but I tend to want to work with vendors I like, know, and trust.
These reviews are distributed just like a regular blog on the site with over 100,000+ visitors each month, they are shared on social media, RSS, emailed, and indexed on search engines. I work hard to SEO optimize each review and blog post to reach a specific and targeted audience, and it works, since my blog’s bounce rate consistently stays at .05%. Yes, you read correctly, .05%. Keep in mind a good bounce rate is 50%. Anything over 60%, and the webmaster should be concerned.
My Promise to You
More importantly, I am committed to being transparent in my disclosure of paid relationships and make sure to include a disclosure statement, as directed by the FTC, at the end of the blog post. This is to let you know if I received a free product, compensation, or have a business relationship with the company that has the product I’m reviewing or writing about. All bloggers in the US are required to disclose this relationship but more importantly, I believe that all bloggers, even those outside of the US, should disclose out of ethics. It’s just the right thing to do for you.
