I’d be lying if I say that this blog post has been easy to write. I’ve been putting it off for weeks and months because sometimes something becomes a part of you so much that you can’t let go. That’s how I feel about Blogging4Jobs. In 2007, I started this blog as a way to differentiate myself from other HR professionals in Oklahoma City where I call home.  I blogged myself right out of a job and launched my consulting company diving head first into the entrepreneurial world. With my blog, I realized that as corporate practitioners we didn’t really have a voice in the media which is the driving factor in what the blog is today.  Through all that, I’ve kept the Twitter name, @Blogging4Jobs and doing so have been identified solely with the blog. Truth be told, there’s more to me and there’s more to Blogging4Jobs. We’re 18+ writers strong talking about workplace topics that cover a large spectrum with a focus on human capital, a company’s biggest risk and asset in business today.

My Blog as My First Born

I often refer to this blog as my first child. She’s the older sister to Ryleigh, who’s now 4 years old. But as this blog as grown and evolved so have I which is why it’s time to take a step back from Blogging4Jobs and giving my first daughter some room to grow. Starting today, you can find me on my new personal Twitter account, @jmillermerrell. @Blogging4Jobs will be less personal ranting and more industry information, news, insights and live tweeting of conferences, sessions, twitter chats and different things by me and my team. And don’t worry, I’ll still be bringing the snark to Blogging4Jobs just in smaller doses once or so a week.

Next week, I’m officially launching my new personal workplace blog, at www.Workology.com. It’s a destination for senior business professionals in HR, Operations, and Finance discussing human capital and the world of work. I’ll be serving up this information in articles instead of blogs, research and white papers to introduce our leaders to the current evolution happening in HR, social media and business. They’ll be some crossover between Blogging4Jobs and Workology so don’t you fret.

Driving Change in the Human Capital Industry

For those of us who are in the trenches of the HR Revolution happening here and now, I’m reminded of Laurie Ruettimann’s closing speech at the second HRevolution in Chicago. Even 3 years later it stuck with me in a lot of ways. The key to change in the human capital space is in the trenches, growing, promoting and driving change from within. She encouraged us to promote within our organizations and in doing so we would drive social media and this new transparent workplace as a business leader ourselves.

Workology is the next personal and professional phase for me taking it to the trenches heeding Laurie’s advice. I want to give you meaningful research and insights from a practitioner point of view in a professional and acceptable format and presentation that speaks to your CEO or CHRO. I want to give you something that helps support you in your personal crusade in the trenches driving change from the inside out.

Thank you for your continued support of me and Blogging4Jobs. Whatever you need, I’m here to help.

  2. “I want to give you meaningful research and insights from a practitioner point of view in a professional and acceptable format and presentation that speaks to your CEO or CHRO. I want to give you something that helps support you in your personal crusade in the trenches driving change from the inside out.” Thanks for those words Jessica. I work in social services. I’m in the trenches and am on a personal crusade to be a change agent for how people can have their “issues” AND have sustainable relationships! I look forward to your writings and inspiration that will keep me strong against the nay-sayer’s! …I refuse to live by a label…(unless it’s a good one 😉
